Statement On African Palm Plantation In Lean Valley

    Tegucigalpa, Honduras, November 22, 2018:

Dinant regrets to announce that, on Saturday, November 17, a body was found by a member of staff while entering to work at one of the company’s African Palm plantations in the Lean Valley, Honduras. The incident was immediately reported to the police, who visited the scene to remove the body. Initial results shared by the police concluded that the deceased person, as yet unidentified, had been killed elsewhere and then carried to the plantation. The police are investigating the incident, which is similar to other cases where the bodies of murdered victims have been disposed of on Dinant’s property or on third party’s property.

Dinant’s thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim. The company is co-operating fully with the public authorities to ensure that those who committed this terrible crime are quickly brought to justice. Following standard company procedure, Dinant has begun its internal investigation and reporting process to gather the facts.

Dinant will continue to do everything in its power to assist the Honduran authorities in their efforts to combat crime.
