Dinant statement on Cristian Martinez Perez

    Tegucigalpa, Honduras, January 30, 2015:

At 5:40pm local time this evening, Corporación Dinant was made aware that Mr. Cristian Martinez Perez, a 22-year-old man from the Panama village in Bajo Aguán adjacent to Dinant’s African Palm plantation, had been reported missing.

Dinant’s security team is assisting members of the Panama community in their search for Mr. Martinez, who was last seen at 8pm local time on Thursday, January 29 th . The search is being led by the Honduran public authorities.

We are doing everything we can to help find Mr. Martinez. Although we have no reason to believe that Mr. Martinez entered Dinant’s African Palm plantation, we are providing unlimited access to the site to all search parties, including members of the Gregorio Chavez Peasant Movement, of which Mr. Martinez is an active participant.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Martinez’s family and friends at this difficult time.
