Dinant Highlights Climate Action on World Environment Day

Gabriela Carvajal, Corporate Communications Manager at Dinant, said, “As one of Central America’s leading agribusiness and consumer goods manufacturers, we have a responsibility to help address climate change. It is also good business. Companies that use resources more efficiently are better prepared for the future. Dinant sees sustainability as a practical investment in long-term competitiveness.” Dinant’s environmental work includes reducing fossil fuel use, generating renewable energy, improving water management, strengthening supply-chain monitoring, and protecting biodiversity. The Company has maintained ISO 14001 certification since 2015, demonstrating that its environmental management systems are independently assessed against an internationally recognized standard. Dinant also remains a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), reflecting its commitment to responsible palm oil production and continuous improvement. Highlights include: ● Since 2008, Dinant’s palm oil extraction plant in Aguán, northern Honduras, has captured over 156 million cubic meters of biogas, reducing the Company’s use of bunker fuel by 12 million gallons and diesel by 1.3 million gallons. ● Since 2016, Dinant has used biogas and biomass to generate more than 152 million kWh of electricity. Of that total, 12 million kWh have been supplied to the national grid. ● Dinant’s new $150 million snacks plant in Comayagua, inaugurated in April 2025, includes 2 MW of installed solar capacity, supplying over 25% of the facility’s energy demand. ● Dinant’s Lean Extraction Plant reuses treated wastewater as organic fertilizer under a monitored process that supports responsible water management. ● Since 2012, Dinant has produced more than [X] metric tons of compost from palm residues, replacing more than [Y] metric tons of mineral fertilizer and reducing waste from its operations. Dinant is mapping more than 47,000 hectares of palm plantations to strengthen oversight of its supply chain and support compliance with European deforestation regulations. The Company also works with 3,100 independent producers to trace its palm oil supply chain. Dinant also supports wildlife conservation at the Farallones Reserve, including programs to breed and release species such as jaguar and tapir. The reserve is part of the Company’s broader work to protect natural ecosystems in areas where it operates. “Sustainability is a long-term investment,” added Ms. Carvajal. “World Environment Day reminds us that companies must keep improving and measure progress honestly.
