    Dinant Updated Statement on COVID-19

    April 1, 2020

The global COVID-19 pandemic is, above all, a human tragedy, affecting hundreds of thousands of people, evolving rapidly, and understandably causing great concern for everyone.  The Honduran Government continues to implement measures to contain the spread of the virus, and Dinant is strictly complying with all instructions from the authorities.  The safety and wellbeing of our customers, staff and business partners will always be our top priority.  We wish to provide information to enable our valued customers to continue to use our products with complete confidence.

For nearly 60 years, Dinant has been leading efforts in Honduras to implement and update protocols that keep our staff and customers safe. That is why we have retained many internationally-renowned certifications such as ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, and the SQF Safe Quality Food Program that rewards a culture of safe quality and encourages responsible manufacturing and agricultural processes.

Since the outbreak of the global pandemic, we have further strengthened our industry-leading practices with a range of pre-emptive measures that keep our staff and products safe.  We are providing protective masks to all staff, (including those that did not need to wear them in the course of their duties prior to the pandemic); we are ensuring that staff are able to work a safe distance apart; and we are increasing the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing of high traffic areas throughout our facilities. We have made sanitizing soap and gels available in kitchens, bathrooms, meetings rooms and other locations around our properties.

We are providing supplementary training for our diligent staff to ensure that they are aware of the COVID-19 symptoms and the best practices in cleaning and hygiene.  We have introduced stronger and more proactive measures to reduce risk and immediately react if any staff need medical assistance.  And we continue to follow all developments in real-time and ensure strict adherence to recommendations by the Honduran Government and the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO).

Given these facts, Dinant’s products remain as safe as ever for our customers to enjoy, and our valued staff and business partners are being cared for as only we know how, particularly members of high-risk groups such as the elderly or those with underlying health problems that have been asked to work from home.

As a business leader in Honduras, we feel it is our responsibility to do the right thing and support communities as much as we can.  We are donating cleaning products and food to our staff’s families in some communities, and we are providing financial support to our small and medium Oil Palm fresh fruit suppliers by offering to delay collecting on loans until June 30 th , 2020.

Our staff on the front line, the persons displaying the Zambos bags and the Mazola Cooking Oil on the shelves, the people moving these products, and those manufacturing them across the country, are the company’s backbone and we are grateful for their heroic efforts.

At Dinant, we will remain diligent and continue our pro-active measures to do whatever we can to contain the spread of the virus.  We are providing sanitization equipment and additional measures to make sure that our hard working and alert staff are safe; we are continuing our manufacturing process to ensure our products are available to all our customers; and we are taking this pandemic seriously for our customers’ safety, and for the safety of our staff and their family and friends.
