    Most common mistakes made in a job interview

    In day to day life we make different mistakes, but mistakes which you could get to make in an interview are crucial for a possible recruitment. This is due to the fact that we only get one chance to demonstrate our skills, it’s key to give the best possible appearance. Some years ago possessing a good resume could make you fit in the position. Nowadays, we have to keep in mind that we have to convince the person who is hiring that you are the adequate candidate.

    1- Talk too much

    Interviewees think that each point needs to be covered with their recruiter in order to look capable. Nonetheless, this is something that runs against them, because the interviewer is more concentrated in their anxiety than in their speech’s content.

    2- Arrive Late

    This is one of the main mistakes for which candidates are not hired. Arriving on time is a given, something which you should do since the moment you received the call. Don’t forget that you are in a recruitment process and that there are other candidates who are competing for the same position.

    3- Your speech doesn’t match your resume

    Telling your recruiter about you and your work is fine, but showing them how and why you work the way you do is even better. If you provide real life examples this will make your statements even more meaningful, this is why it is better to explain the how and why of each statement you make. One of the most common mistakes is not updating the amount of years you were the last company you worked for, or even worse, not including the last place where they worked.

    4- Avoiding Subjects

    Psychologists and most of the recruiters value when a person has self-reflection skills. This ability is correlated to emotional intelligence and transmits that some of your thoughts may affect others.

    5- Making too many questions

    It is advisable to wait until the recruiter indicates, in order to make questions. Otherwise, you should make them when the chance appears throughout the job interview. It’s important to show interest, but without bombarding the interviewer with questions.
